Mind, Body, Spirit (Elder Group): Monthly

This is a lively gathering full of love, support, senior-friendly activities, and healthy, tasty treats. It’s open to “senior” parishioners and is held on the second Friday of each month, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. in the Community Building. Each month’s activities include activities for the mind, healthy foods for the body, and prayer for the spirit.

Grief Workshop: November

The BeFrienders sponsor an annual Grief Workshop before the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Families whose loved ones have passed away during the past year (or years past) are encouraged to attend. The workshop provides participants an opportunity to reflect on the loss in a safe, compassionate, and prayerful setting.

Click here for information about the Grief Workshop scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to Noon in the Bailey House.

Giving Trees: Advent

Closely associated with our Care Facilities Ministry, the Giving Trees are a program during Advent to anticipate Christmas for the residents of the convalescent homes.  Parishioners are invited to take a tag from the “giving” trees, purchase the desired items, and return the wrapped gift with the tag attached in time for Christmas delivery. Volunteers deliver the gifts to the designated facility. We try to see that each resident receives a gift.

Memorial Mass: January

Each year we celebrate the lives of those we love who are no longer with us. This Mass is hosted by the BeFrienders and all are cordially invited to attend.

Celebration of Life: Spring

Celebration of Life Day is scheduled for a Saturday in the spring. Residents of local convalescent and residential care homes and homebound parishioners are brought to our parish gymnasium for Mass, the Anointing of the Sick, a special luncheon, and entertainment. Parishioners are always welcome to help serve the meal, to decorate, and to assist our guests as needed.

Welcome Dinners: Spring and Fall

The Welcoming Ministry, along with the parish staff and priests, host two catered dinners each year to welcome new parishioners. We gather in the Community Building on selected Saturdays after the 5 p.m. Mass, share a meal, introduce the staff, and pray a blessing over these newest members of our community.
