When you read this you have to know that my look to the independence of USA, is from the point of view of some one who discovered all the facts later on in life, and at the same time, how I am one with you in being grateful for this country and its independence. For that reason when I read the Declaration of Independence I cannot pass without notice, some fundamental things of our faith, that some times, in the moments will live we forget, or seems some people forgot.

“All men are created equal”

Following the events that took place in the last weeks, we can see that for some people that is not truth. That white and black people are not equal. Nothing more contrary to this declaration, and nothing more contrary to our beliefs. Because for us There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

“that they are endowed by their Creator”

 God is not absence in the beginning of this nation; God then and now is the one who has endowed us with gifts, rights and blessings. Nevertheless, God always has to be present in the life of American people. Without God every thing changes and life itself is transformed if God is not present.

“with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.” 

These three things even though they can be found in a world with faith, they will be complete. But for those who believe: Jesus is the life. He is the one who makes us free, because physical freedom is not complete without spiritual freedom.

The Pursuit of Happiness is in the same nature of human beings. Saint Augustine said the same with other words: “You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.” Because every happiness from this world even though good, cannot last for ever. But in order to fulfill the heart of any man or woman, has to last for ever, and can be found only in God.

Please pray for the United States of America, for the freedom that we hold so dear. Let us pray for each one of the citizens of this wonderful country that each one of us will accept, believe and live “that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness”
